- Sunday, 16 Oct 2005
It may take some time until the Ocean Jewel gambling cruise ship will be able to set sails again. Friday, marked the last time that gambling will take place on board the floating casino, as the last shuttle from the gambling ship made its way back to shore. Gambling will not resume until repairs are done to fix the ship, which is estimated at $1 million. So far, the company that operates the gambling cruise ship still hasn’t secured the money required to make the necessary repairs.
Until they do, the 415 employees who maintain the day-to-day operations aboard the gambling ship will be out of work. Dennis Shepard, CEO of the company that owns the gambling ship says, “It's hard. We have very dedicated employees that are very interested in the success of the gambling ship”. Shepard added by saying, “It's hard. It's not easy for any of us”.
This is not the first time that gambling has been halted aboard the Ocean Jewel. The gambling ship which was launched last year has suffered a number of setbacks in the short period of time that it has been operational. Shepard estimates that the repair work will be completed in up to 45 days, by which time gambling will resume on board the Ocean Jewel. | |
