Recent developments in the mobile gambling industry have given gaming fans fresh hope that at least one form of online gaming could soon earn a lucky break from legislators worldwide. Progressive Gaming International (PGIC) has recently joined the main contenders in the mobile gambling industry seeking to bring mobile games to land based casinos in Nevada. The handheld equipment is currently awaiting approval for use on Nevada premises by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, but insiders say the nod to start mobile gambling is just weeks away.
Progressive Gaming International has stated that its wireless Rapid Bet Live sports gambling product is due to be submitted to the Nevada Gaming Control Board for approval within the next three months. The Board has already approved the devices of two other firms, making Nevada the first U.S. state to recognize mobile gambling. New rules are also being developed that will permit casinos to offer wireless handheld gambling devices to people who want to gamble away from the casino floor but on land casino premises.
The concept is currently waiting to be tested in various Las Vegas casinos and by the Commission over the next three to six months. Once the testing is complete, makers of wireless gambling devices will be invited to seek approval of their products for use in a casino's public areas. Several industry executives have stated they expect the gambling devices to be commonplace in Las Vegas by the end of the year.
