- Wednesday, 15 Feb 2006
In 2004 gambling firm PartyGaming announced that it intended to focus on increasing its membership outside the U.S. Today the campaign to target European gambling fans has proved more than successful, with over 30 percent of new members in 2005 residing outside the U.S. This news and more was recently released in a PartyGaming statement concerning the fourth quarter results generated from its gambling business.
The report provides some impressive reading. Following a disappointing third quarter result, the gambling firm’s revenues have shot up 65 percent in the fourth quarter to $320.2 million US dollars. Revenue for the same period in the previous year was recorded at $194 million. The publicly-listed gambling firm also reported net online poker revenues increased by 31 percent on last year’s figures. The average daily revenue was US$2.5 million compared with US$1.9 million in 2004, the highest since PartyGaming’s online gambling website Party Poker began in August 2001.
Yet perhaps the most rewarding figures represent the growth in membership from gambling fans located outside the U.S. Over 30 percent of the new 850,000 members that joined PartyGaming in 2005 are based in Europe and Scandanavia. Revenue from North American gambling fans made up 82 percent of PartyGaming revenues compared with 84 percent in the same period last year. For a company eager to reduce its dependence on the U.S. market, results indicate that the right strategy is in place. | |
