Despite strong support for the online casino gambling law from 115 members of Congress, religious leaders and conservative groups, the law restricting online casino gambling could go down in flames, said an expert of the gambling industry. Even if the law passes, it might have very little impact on the online casino gambling industry in the United States, he added.
In theory, the law is meant to restrict banks from accepting payments for online casino sites, but the expert says that because of the Patriot Act, many banks are already doing so. The online casino sites have been using foreign bank accounts for years, because of this reason. He further added that the law had been tossed around for years and every time it looks like it is about to be passed, some other group which favors the restrictions on online casino gambling decides that it is too lenient.
The analyst of the online casino industry laughed at the way the bill might be torpedoed in the end by those that want the bill the most. He explains that every time that they try to pass this bill, the religious groups end up opposing it because of all the exemptions the bill picks up along the way. It is hard for them to pass a bill that blankets the entire online casino industry, and this will be their downfall. | |
