Some new faces will be joining the UK Gambling Commission team. Gambling Commission’s powers expanded. The UK Gambling Commission has announced that it has appointed a number of new senior associates to join its already expansive team. A spokesperson for the Commission announced that the new Director of Licensing and Compliance will be Hazel Canter. Her position will include the overseeing of teams which implement the licensing of gambling operators, as well as ensuring compliance with the statutes of the Gambling Act of 2005.
New Head of Enforcement for the UK Gambling Commission will be Andrew Lyman. Lyman’s mission will be to establish a new team which will enforce the prohibition of illegal gambling. The team’s duties will be to enforce the Gambling Act in all its spheres and to maintain a close and open relationship with the police and law enforcement agencies in order to fight illegal gambling on a unified front. Lynne Duffill was appointed as Head of Human Resources for the UK Gambling Commission. Her duties will include expanding the team and leading a massive recruitment campaign.
The Gambling Commission has taken over duties of the previously appointed Gaming Board. The Commission is predominantly in charge of regulating casinos, bingo, gaming machines and lotteries. Additional authority has also been granted to the Gambling Commission which includes regulating remote gambling and betting. It will set new criteria for the approval of licenses to gambling operators and will hold legal power to monitor the gaming industry as a whole.
