Within the borders of America, Las Vegas is undoubtedly the reigning gambling kingdom. While Atlantic City comes close in charm and gambling options, the majority of gamblers still prefer Vegas for its fast-paced, glitzy and, quite frankly, decadent atmosphere. However, the world is getting smaller and there are many gambling locations in the world that are starting to rival Vegas with the amount of visitors and the size of the location.
Macau, a peninsula in China, has been called the Vegas of Asia and it attracts millions of gambling lovers from China and other areas every year. The city of Las Vegas is well aware that the Chinese love gambling and is trying to tap into a country with such a huge population. Nevada tourist officials have been meeting with their Chinese counterparts in the hope of establishing direct air links between Las Vegas and Guangzhou, an area in the south of the country. It is hoped, in this way, that gambling lovers will not automatically make their way to Macau, but would also consider the United States as an option.
It is clear that those Chinese tourists who have already visited the United States love gambling. Statistics say that as much as 90% of all those who toured the country, included a gambling trip to Nevada in their itinerary.
