The anti online gambling act, or if to call it by its official name - The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, was enacted six months ago but had little affect on the American gambling public. Although online casino firms were damaged and most of the big names in the industry have moved to Europe, the bill did not stop Americans from enjoying their favorite online gambling sites. The ones to suffer the most as a result of the bill were online transaction service providers that were forced to stop doing business with online gambling companies.
Now, a Democrat Congressman called Barney Frank has decided that enough is enough and that something has to be done regarding the ludicrous anti online gambling act. Frank said in an interview that work will start in the upcoming months, and hopefully a way to overthrow Congress' decision on online gambling will be found. There is no reason to ban the online gambling industry while American citizens keep playing online. The money they lose goes to other countries, and if Americans want to gamble, then they should play at US-located online casino sites.
Not only that, but the US has found itself in a difficult position as a result of the anti online gambling bill. The bill states that online horseracing betting is permitted even though other forms of online gambling are prohibited. The World Trading Organization found this part of the bill to be hypocritical and ruled in favor of Antigua in its dispute with the United States regarding the matter. No matter how you look at it, the anti online gambling bill only damages the US.
