Cryptologic, one of the leading online casino software providers, has announced this week a three-year partnership with World Poker Tour Enterprises Inc (WPTE), which will move the World Poker Tour’s gaming website for the international market, to the world’s largest non-US shared gaming network. “Cryptologic is without a doubt one of the leaders in this industry, and we hope that this deal will prove itself. We’re already looking forward to see the new games” said Steven Lipscomb, President, Founder and CEO of WPTE.
For those online casino players who still don’t know, The World Poker Tour is a series of poker tournaments featuring most of the world's professional poker players. The drawing power of the WPT is that anyone who can pay the "buy-in" (an amount ranging from $2,500 to $25,000) or win a "satellite" tournament is able to compete against the top professional players. In addition, the event is considered one of the most watched television programs on cable, partly because of the fact that the fans at home really feel like they are playing themselves. For example, thanks to special technical innovations, fans of the show can see the players' hole cards through a small camera in front of them on the poker table.
There’s no doubt that agreements like this one are highly beneficial for the whole online casino industry, as it brings it closer to the public eye. Javaid Aziz, the new CEO and President of Cryptologic, is well aware of that fact: “It is the prefect strategic step for both companies, as WPT and Cryptologic are pioneers in the global gaming industry, which is just getting bigger and bigger”.
