A week ago, we reported that actress Cameron Diaz has admitted to have a poker gambling addiction. As a result of her remarks, Diaz was approached by an online gambling site by the name of BetCRIS, offering her to serve as the site’s spokesperson. The endorsement deal is reportedly worth $1.5 million, including a monthly retainer and a free gambling account. As of yet, it’s unclear whether or not the actress has accepted the deal.
This is a second time this month that an online gambling site approaches a high-profile celebrity. A few weeks ago, a British newspaper published photos of Moss allegedly snorting cocaine. Once these pictures were made public, Moss lost all of her sponsors and found herself in a situation in which couldn’t get work on the runway. Upon losing all of her sponsors, an online gambling site offered Moss an endorsement deal, which she ended up rejecting.
This recurring trend of recruiting celebrity spokespersons seems to one of the major promotional tactics taken by gambling sites these days. The motivation for doing that is quite obvious, which is to associate a famous face wit their product. Since all these site offer pretty much the same product (i.e. gambling), one of the few things that separate them is the “package”. | |
