More than 1,000 delegates from all over the online gambling world attended the latest European I-Gaming Congress and Exhibition organized by the River City Group last week. Although the theme of the event was announced as “coming together”, Sue Schneider, CEO of River City Group didn’t forget to remind the presents the situation in which the online casino community currently lives. “This industry has always been under siege and probably always will be”, she said, referring of course to the latest Congress legislation against online casino gambling and gaming sites.
As Schneider said, there seems to be some problems online gamblinig companies on both sides of the Atlantic. On Europes, some of the European Member States have begun trying to prevent foreign companies from offering online gambling services, such as online casino sites and poker rooms, to their citizens. On the American side, the Congress succeed in passing the very controversial legislation that prohibits credit card companies to transfer funds to online casino sites. The issue seems even more complicated due to the fact that some of those gambling sites now belong to public companies, after they decided to enter stock exchanges in last couple of years.
As the online gambling sites all over the world are looking for solutions, Norbert Teufelberger, one of the CEO’s of a large European betting companie, thinks he may have a solution. His company, along with some other companies from the gambling world, is working on a public relations campaign which will consist in a two-year lobbying. “We will bring information to the decision makers” Teufelberger says, hoping he’ll be able to save his bussiness and help the entire online casino gambling industry.
