Much like music, TV and motion picture industry, the online gambling industry now has an evening dedicated to recognizing the finest in the field. The eGaming Review Awards is the first award ceremony putting the spotlight on the online gambling industry. The ceremony took place in London last week at The Brewery located in the center of the City. The event was attended by more than 600 people including gambling executives representing some of the top online casinos and sportsbooks on the market.
Fresh from their successful IPO, 888 won the award for the top gambling operator. Other awards handed out included Bodog for best online marketing; Victor Chandler online gambling consortium received top honors for best offline marketing; Hold’em Poker took the award for finest free-play poker. Midas Player was awarded for their non traditional selection of gambling games and Poker Stars won the award for best poker operator.
Online gambling can also be regarded as a form of entertainment. The effect of these award ceremonies far supersedes any promotional good that could come out of it for the winners. The eGaming Review Awards are another positive step in brining the entire online gambling industry closer to main stream. We can only hope that this is not just a one time thing and that this event will be taking place annually.
