It seems that online gambling site William Hill Poker will be sponsoring the 2005 European Poker Awards and the European Ranking Awards. The award ceremony is an annual tradition that started in 2000. The Grand Casino land based gambling resort in Helsinki has hosted each of the past award shows. This year, the ceremony will be held at the ACF Club in Paris, on Sunday 8th January 2006. Awards will be presented in 5 categories that include a Lifetime Achievement Award, Player of the Year, Card Room Staff Person of the Year, Tournament Performance of the Year and of the Year.
In the running to win the Rookie of the Year award are John Gale (England), Noah Boeken (Holland), Peter Gunnarson (Sweden), Roland de Wolfe ( England) and Patrik Antonius (Finland). The frontrunners to win the Tournament Performance of the Year are Rob Hollink (Holland), Andy Black (Ireland), Pascal Perrault (France) and Patrik Antonius (Finland). Player of the Year category also features some intriguing names that include, Pascal Perrault (France), Juha Helppi (Finland), Andy Black (Ireland), Dave Colclough (England) and Rob Hollink (Holland).
