- Monday, 4 Jun 2007
It seems that the online gambling public is anticipating a positive future for the online gambling industry. A popular gambling portal conducted a survey recently in regards to the future of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. Although there is no official word of lifting the ban, online gambling players have already decided. Some 75 percent of the votes said that the ban will be canceled in three years, and the online casino gambling will be legal in the United States once again.
42 percent of the people were even a bit over optimistic and said that online gambling will become legal again before the year will end. Less optimistic, but still very positive, was the opinion of 13 percent of the online gambling fans who said that the ban will be lifted before the end of 2008. Only 25 percent of the players said that the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act will never be overthrown, and that the industry won't be able to return to the United States.
With the World Trading Organization pressuring the US to address the bill, after rolling in favor of Antigua in an international dispute over it, the chances for change are not bad. As international pressure grows, there are voices from within the country that are calling for a re-evaluation of the whole matter, and hopefully the US stand over online gambling will change in the near future. American citizens are still playing at online gambling sites, and the damage to the US economy was in vain.
