After wrapping up the World Series of Poker, you are welcome to get ready for the largest online poker tournament series. The 2006 Poker Stars 'World Championship of Online Poker' is offering a mind boggling overall prize pool of 10$ million. Last year's 15 online gambling events sent the winner home with over half a million in prize money, and the 5th annual online poker championship with its 18 events and large gambling payout is sure to step up and break some records along the way.
The prize just gets bigger every year. Going back in time and looking back to the first online battle in 2002, MultiMarine from Sweden was marked as the winner of the main event and walked off with a grand total of 65,450$. In 2003, DeOhGee won 222,750$ and in 2004, Radge topped that with 424,945$ of his own. Last year, Panella86 grabbed the first spot and shoved 577,342 down his deep pockets. So yes, this year Online Poker will make someone extremely wealthy.
The series will start September 16th and run until October 1st with a No Limits Hold 'em. Anyone with a Poker Stars account can enter and members are allowed to directly buy-in to any of the events, win a satellite or use frequent player points to earn free entry. As with the past Online Poker tournaments, players are not just playing for cash in the 2006 WCOOP. Each event winner will also receive a champion's gold bracelet to commemorate their win.
