The popularity of gambling on poker amongst students in both the U.S. and the United Kingdom has soared in recent months. A number of gambling tournaments for students have been developed and the number of students playing at online poker sites has increased substantially.

For one New York casino, the number of students participating in live gambling has increased by approximately 30 percent. Turning Stone Casino boss Jason DiBenedetto says that in honor of its new clientele, his casino has specially designed a new poker room catering specifically to student gambling fans. The casino attributes the increase in students gambling there to the growth of poker on TV, especially on channels like ESPN. More and more students have taken up the game as a way of relaxing and winning cash.
DiBenedetto says that the fact the casino has chosen to invest its money in catering for the student population is indicative of how far the game of poker has come in recent times. The new gambling hall at Turning Stone Casino features no less than 32 poker tables, catering for up to 300 gambling fans at one time. The action can also be seen live on a multitude of screens in the bar area. Other facilities include a computer area for email and a range of slots and arcade games.
