Vodafone is preparing to launch a new fully interactive gambling service next month. The deal between the telecommunications giant and Gaming Corporation will see an initial eleven games added to the gambling platform, with more to follow. Gaming Corporation, the owners of several online gambling sites, has nearly finished work on a fully interactive mobile casino service for Vodafone, the first that a telecommunications company has provided.
The technology firm’s chief executive, Justin Drummond, announced the imminent launch last week, referring to it as a “major advance for Gaming Corporation, which will bring further scale to our mobile gambling operation.” Vodafone’s gambling service will consist of eleven games initially, including stud poker, slots, scratch cards, blackjack and roulette. Powered by Java, the service will allow players to enjoy gambling in either practice mode or for real cash. A deposit and registration system will be accessed over a player’s Vodafone handset.
A unique Content Control system developed especially for Vodafone will bar underage gambling fans from participating and only valid registered credit cards will be accepted for transaction purposes. In order to control the level of gambling, Vodafone also intends to impose a maximum daily wager amount per player and will offer advice and information on cash only gaming to encourage responsible practices.
