Horse racing is over 1000 years old and was known as the sport of kings. Horse sports gambling was also a way that the kings generated an income through taxes and horse sports gambling has evolved into one of the most loved pastimes.
As early at 1140, the first of the Kings, Henry, tried to improve the Royal horses by importing stallions from Arabia. Throughout the crusades, horses were considered an essential part of any respectable king’s entourage. Horse sports gambling, per se, was not an official part of the royal vocabulary, but there was definitely an exchange of honor and recognition when one person’s horse beat another in a race. Horse sports gambling might have been used to generate revenue for the king in the form of taxes from the lower classes, or horse sports gambling might have evolved as a pastime in the lower royal houses.
In the mid 1500s, the daughter of King Henry, Elizabeth, improved the image of the royal cavalry by moving some of the better horses to the royal stables which were to be used solely for the purpose of racing. This was the start of the royal pastime of horse sports gambling. The idea of horse sports gambling caught on a favored pastime of the royals during which not only money was exchanged but also jewels and other treasures.
Horse sports gambling has now been entrenched in the British culture and is horse racing is sometimes considered a national sport. Sports gambling on horses is now no longer limited to being present at the race but can be done via the telephone, computer or even on one’s mobile phone. Horse racing and horse sports gambling has certainly developed since its origin. | |
