Although it's been clear for a while that the online gambling business was a risky one, especially involving the USA, few investors expected the congress to pass the ban on online gambling quite so fast. The sudden annihilation of the most profitable customer base for online casinos, the American gambler, came as a shock to most investors, as a surprise, and at that a nasty one.
Of course there have been voices of caution all along the way, and the impending decision will have dampened quite a lot of enthusiasm about the online gambling industry long before the bill was passed this weekend. But even if this latest American stunt took the business by surprise, don’t expect any of the online gambling companies concerned to back off any time soon. After all, America is only so big a part of the whole wide world, and with opportunities growing globally for online gambling business, some of the casinos hardest hit by the online gambling ban in America are already turning their back on the old shore, facing towards Europe or Asia where greener pastures for new gambling payments are waiting.
And even if the average American gambler is definitely on the loosing side after this turn of events, the ban might spell good news to some European based online casinos and invigorate the market. Mergers and acquisitions will follow. Gambling executives know that at the end of the day, if people enjoy gambling, they will continue to do so, and the industry will get back onto its feet again, with gambling payments continuing to flow. | |
