- Wednesday, 20 Dec 2006
The end of the year 2006 is coming, and with it all the special summaries that everyone likes to make. As such, we will also be examining how was the past year when it comes to online gambling sites and where they are heading to. There's no doubt that this last year was pretty rough for the online gambling industry, as we've seen some drastic changes happening. Although some people in the industry believed at first that the online gambling problem would carry the online gambling industry down, figures from around the world are showing that exactly the opposite is happening.
When trying to examine the last year of the online gambling industry from a technological angle we can see several advancements. Not only the sites work faster and generally problem free, but the graphics are much more attractive and the platform more stable. In addition, the wireless revolution is already here, and more and more online gambling sites are appearing in this platform, allowing gamblers to play their favorite games from their handhelds. This latest trend is expected to grow bigger in the coming years, and with the introduction of fast internet connections in distant areas of the world the online gambling market will only get bigger.
When looking at the last year, it will be safe to say that the most influencing event was the legislation of the US Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. While at first many US online gambling companies panicked and decided to close their doors, or stop accepting American gamblers, it seems now that the industry has recuperated. It's still early to predict what will happen in the next years, but if the online gambling industry has been able to survive this year's problems, nothing will be able to stop it in the future. | |
