Long before there was online gambling, back in the 17th century France, the famous mathematician Blaise Pascal invented Roulette, meaning a small wheel. The game was enjoyed by many during the turbulent years of the French revolution. The zero was a later addition, only in 1842. Its inventors, Luis and François Blanc, in essence wished to improve the house odds. Roulette migrated to the US later on in the 19th century and another zero was added to further improve the house odds. This is the background of the split between the versions of Roulette, a split that is still evident in the age of online gambling. Today both European and American versions of the game exist; the European with one zero gives a house advantage of 2.7% as apposed to the double-zeroed American version the gives the house a 5.3% advantage.
Understanding the way Roulette works can greatly improve the chances for an online gambling enthusiast of winning, so learn the odds. In Roulette, a player can bet on a single number from 1 to 36 giving him a 1-in-37 (or 38 in the American version) chance of receiving an additional $35 for each dollar he bets. The Roulette offers many more online gambling options; black or red, odds or evens, 1-18 or 19-36, first, middle or last 12, rows etc.
Well, is playing on the Roulette table a good idea? Albert Einstein was quoted saying "You cannot beat a Roulette table unless you steal money from it." And that isn't really a possibility in online gambling. So have fun but know that the odds are against you and its better to know just what they are. Next time you find yourself gambling online at Roulette be sure to calculate what the odd you are playing are. If you don't like those odds keep on moving. | |
