- Saturday, 15 Apr 2006
Gambling is a very exciting and potentially relaxing leisure activity. Whether one prefers gambling at an online casino or at a land casino, if controlled, gambling is great! A person should set a specific amount of money aside each month and decide that this amount is for gambling. This money should not be money needed to pay bills or for living expenses, but should rather be spare money. If this spare money does not exist, then gambling should not be your choice of entertainment.
Like going to movies or purchasing music discs, any pastime, if done compulsively, is not healthy. Gambling is the same. A person might spend $1000 on discs a month and if he can afford it, then there is no problem. However, if this person is using his rent money and buying music instead, then this could indicate a problem. Such with gambling. A person who uses money that is needed for other essentials and gambles the money away in the hope of making more money is an irresponsible and possibly problematic gambler.
A responsible gambler will determine a special amount for gambling and will only use this money. This money is the person’s entertainment allowance – whether it is used to go to the opera or on gambling, if done in a controlled and limited fashion, there is no problem in enjoying gambling as a form of leisure. | |
