In the casino gambling world, Atlantic City has always come across as secondary when compared to Las Vegas. That is all about to change because gambling revenue reported from Atlantic City has the industry mongers talking. For many years, the gambling industry has considered Las Vegas as the King of Casinos. With all the neon lights and superb entertainment attractions, Las Vegas certainly has the international image of being THE place to go on a gambling vacation. Atlantic City, in comparison, has been the place that people go for a quick gambling session as a pass-through. However, following recent figures pouring out of Atlantic City, it seems that the shift in power might be occurring in the casino gambling industry.
The revenue reports for the first quarter of Atlantic City's twelve casino gambling destinations have been published. At first glance it all looks great - revenue for the twelve gambling destinations was $312 million, which is a huge 15.9% increase over the gambling revenue in the first quarter of 2005. The question is whether these increasing figures in just a year represent an isolated incident or a future trend?
Some believe that it is due to new gambling venues like the superb Bargota Casino that Atlantic City’s image has increased. This casino brought better restaurants, rooms and a hipper attitude to Atlantic City. The idea was to mimic Las Vegas casinos and gambling ambiance, and it seems to have worked. Time will tell whether this is an isolated incident or a new upwards trend. Watch this space for next quarter’s results. | |
