Kentucky Gambling Act Picking Up Steam18 Nov 2005
A month ago, we told you about the Jefferson County Teachers Association in Kentucky that pushes for legislation that will allow casino gambling from within horse tracks. Apparently, the teachers association has found an ally in the Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP) who is also lobbying heavily for the state to allow casino gambling at licensed tracks, which stands to generate a projected $437.5 million in revenues for the state.
Land Based Gambling Operators Eyeing Singapore17 Nov 2005
Land based gambling operator Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. which operates a number of casinos in the US was one of the bidders for a license to operate land based gambling facilities in Singapore. Harrah’s Entertainment was accompanied by seven other land based gambling operators, including Wynn Resorts Ltd. and MGM Mirage, who also participated in the bidding.

Harrah’s Entertainment is one of the largest land based gambling operators today. The company has recently reported an increase in their profits for the third quarter of 2005. The company’s profits have risen by 42% from the last quarter. The company attributes newly found success to the acquisition of Caesars Entertainment, another land based gambling operator.
Mississippi Annual Gambling Classic3 Nov 2005
The state of Mississippi is hosting an annual gambling tournament called the Grand Casino American Poker Classic. The gambling tournament features a mixture of Texas Hold'em poker tournaments combined with a few Omaha tournaments. The event culminates in a final poker tournament also known as the Championship No Limit Texas Holdem tournament.
