People have been waiting for the day that a complete virtual world will be offered to them. Users of the real-time simulation Second Life know that this dream is just around the corner. Second Life is a complete 3D environment that can be used for any activity. Users create their own virtual identities, walk, talk, and even purchase in virtual space. You really have to try it in order to understand the magnitude of the experience. How does this related to online gambling? Well, Second Life tries to imitate the real world, and just like the real world – Second Life has virtual casinos in it; casinos that attract many online gambling players.
People can enter a virtual casino and experience a unique form of online gambling. However, the 'reality' of Second Life has its disadvantage as the company considers banning online gambling inside the virtual environment. The legal limitations of the real world are becoming a part of the 3D one. Some of the virtual casinos have already announced that they will not let users that originate in the United States to enter. Although no real money is used at the virtual casinos, the players are using the world's currency for their online gambling.
Second Life has it's own currency and people use it at the virtual casinos. This type of online gambling is making a hard time for the legal system in the United States, but firms do not want to take any chances and ban online gambling player from the US. We will have to wait and see how 'free' this virtual world really is.
