Moscow hosted the celebrity invitational poker gambling tournament that lasted from November 2nd-4th at the Shangrila gambling resort. Event organizers invited 32 players to play in 4 groups, each containing 8 players. The celebrity guests in attendance included comedians, an ex-tennis pro, a film producer, a footballer and pro-poker players. England was represented by 4 online casino players, which comprised of Blonde Poker’s very own Tony Tikay, Celeb Poker’s Ed Giddi, Ronnie DeBeaulox and Pat Keane, the Managing Director of Celeb Poker.
Ronnie was the first Brit to secure his spot in the finals when he came second in his group. During his short stint of play in the gambling tournament, Giddins couldn't hit a hand in his heat and was an early casualty. Tikay didn’t fall behind, getting busted on a massive bluff with an all-in raise with 3-5 off suit. Eventually, Pat and Ronnie made it to the final gambling round. After a relatively short period of just under an hour, Pat emerged as victorious. This was his first televised gambling event as a player and he took home the trophy plus $60,000 first prize money.
Speaking about the gambling tournament Keane commented, “This was the first time I had been the other side of the cameras. Normally I am a spectator when we host our own gambling tournaments. It is very nerve racking being under the lights and with all of the cameras monitoring your every move. I did thoroughly enjoy the experience and it really was a great thrill to win the whole gambling tournament. The people from the Shangrila gambling resort were fantastic, the event was very well organized and the hospitality was superb. As a venue for future gambling events you would be hard pressed to do better”.
