Gambling revenues in the United Kingdom reached record highs over 2005. Many online gambling companies have become high profile public companies in the last year, but even those who are less well known have been quick to capitalize on the surge of interest in the online casino world. 32Red is a typical example of one gambling firm well on the road to success in the United Kingdom. The online casino company reported a total revenue of 9.8 million pounds sterling, an increase of 67 percent.
The online gambling firm’s game plan was simple. After its September 2005 listing on the London Stock Exchange, 32Red was eager to cultivate a distinctly British atmosphere to appeal to local online gambling fans and the results have more than paid off. Today the Gibraltar based company enjoys most of its success in the United Kingdom where 83 percent of its regular members are located. As a result, actress Patsy Kensit has been hired to feature in 32Red advertising campaigns promoting its online gambling services specifically to British casino fans.
While the majority of 32Red’s gambling profit derives from the company’s casino game business which increased 57 percent over the year, the online poker craze has also pushed poker revenues up to 830,000 pounds sterling annually. 32Red has estimated the number of casino poker players currently gambling at the site has also increased to approximately 7000. Online poker has won thousands of new casino fans in the United Kingdom over the last year. Online gambling firms like 32Red have been quick to exploit market conditions, boasting some of the best online poker facilities available to British gamblers. | |
