- Monday, 30 Jan 2006
Online gambling operator, Party Gaming, has released their figures accounting for the fourth quarter of 2005. Among others, the online gambling company operates online casinos such as Party Poker. The online gambling operator reports that over the course of last year, nearly 850,000 new online casinos players joined Party Poker. What is even more astounding is the fact that 30% of them reside outside the US. Party Gaming is a testament of the globalization of online gambling. Naturally, the more players gambling at the online casino, the more revenues the online casino is going to amass.
The increase in the number of gambling accounts has resulted in an increase in revenues. The online gambling operator’s profits for the forth quarter reached $320.3 million, which represents a 65% increase over the same time in 2004. The revenues from poker alone reached a whopping $233.7 million, showing a 31% improvement from previous year. Sometimes more means less, even at the online casino. In an attempt to diversify their gambling games portfolio, the online casino giant has introduced new gambling games such as blackjack. It appears that the addition of new gambling games has created the opposite effect from what Party Gaming had envisioned.
A spokesperson for the online gambling operator had this to say: “During the quarter, 44% of active Party Poker gambling players also played blackjack, which had a substantial and sustained impact on the profitability of the online gambling group. The success of casino blackjack has transformed our online casino business and proved very popular with a large number of our poker players. Party Gaming’s next major milestone will be the launch of the fully-integrated platform and shared purse in the first half of 2006”.
