Although many gambling fans and populations all over the world are well aware of the problems caused by gambling addictions, these facts do not seem to be stopping the online casino and gambling industry in its tracks. Why? Thanks to the online casinos industry and other forms of gaming, both individuals and state governments are benefiting from the various forms of gambling available.
You may wonder how. States offering lotteries benefit from the increase in revenue that is pumped into the state thanks to millions of lottery tickets being purchased each week by gambling fans or regular people who just want to try their luck at hitting it big. These dollars are rolled into the state budget and its revenues, bringing money to schools and numerous other programs run by the state. People enjoy the chance to imagine winning a great deal of money, which some do, and possibly changing their lives forever. Gambling has that effect on many people – some have fun with it and some become problem gamblers.
Either way, the recent legislation passed by the US House of Representatives this week, it still remains unclear how the current law, which has been proven ineffective in halting gambling online, when ‘clarified’, will be any more successful? Companies outside the United States operate gambling sites run online legally. It is all but impossible to police what Americans do on the Internet. This is why some form of control or regulation of gambling online might be a better idea than flat-out making it illegal. And with state lotteries operating on a regular basis, the Congress is sending a mixed message to gambling fans everywhere.
