Gambling Projected to Bring in $125-billion by 2010

- Monday, 26 Jun 2006

One needn’t be a statistician to predict that the gambling world is set to generate billions of dollars in the next few years. However, when a top company like PricewaterhouseCoopers gives us its estimates regarding the direction of the gambling world, it is interesting to see what they have to say. The bottom line is that global revenue from gambling will increase at an average annual rate of 9%, and will reach the sum of $125-billion by 2010.

Global gambling is expanding from every corner of the earth. The fastest growing gambling market is, by far, the Asian region that is predicted to increase by 14% annually. This is largely due to the hysteria surrounding the ‘Vegas of Asia’ – the Chinese enclave of Macau that attracts millions of gambling lovers annually. Macau is a phenomenon in itself in that it is predicted that the area will grow at a rate of 16% a year. The African, European and Middle Eastern markets combined are expected to increase by approximately 10% annually until 2010.

The United States, only one country, is expected to have its gambling market increase at a steady rate of approximately 6% a year. Of course, this depends on whether there will be any drastic changes in America’s gambling laws in the next few years.
