- Saturday, 27 May 2006
Thai prison services have announced that they will not allow live viewing of the World Cup games in the prisons in order to prevent gambling and violence that could erupt from the gambling. Sports gambling fever is heating up everywhere. With the World Cup Soccer Tournament looming, sports gambling sites are preparing the odds and sports gambling fans are calculating which teams would be more financially viable to support. The Germans are preparing for the onslaught of tourists and supporters expected to arrive for the tournament and the prisons in Thailand are also getting prepared to the World Cup!
How exactly are the prisons in Thailand preparing for the World Cup? It has been announced that the Prison Authority in Thailand has decided that they will not allow prisoners to watch the games live. The reason behind this logic is that they fear that gambling will be a result of viewing live games. Gambling brings on problems of its own, especially in prisons, resulting in violence and theft. The prisons wish to avoid all these negative aspects of gambling, while still allowing the inmates to enjoy the game. They have decided to let the inmates view the games that were pre-recorded, once the results are known.
The Thai inmates are not the only ones that will be dying to place some gambling bets on the World Cup. Millions of sports fans are expected to visit the gambling sites and enjoy some exciting and nail-biting matches while having money riding on the results. | |
