Gambling disputes are fairly common news in the industry. We are always hearing of a casino here or an online gambling site there, refusing to pay out prizes, for whatever reason. However, when gambling prizes reach into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, it becomes hot news. Take the case of gambling patron, Freddy Howard from South Florida in the USA. Howard claims that he won $250,000 at the Hard Rock Casino run by the Seminole Native American tribe. The tribe, however, refuses to pay Howard out his winnings.
The event occurred recently when Howard claimed he was gambling at the casino jackpot near the exit of the casino, on his way out to the outside bars and restaurants. Apparently, Howard won $250,000 in the jackpot and happily went off to claim his prize. The Seminole tribe, however, released a statement saying that the gambling prize had, in fact, not been won and that the machine at which Howard was gambling at had malfunctioned.
There are several options available to Howard. He could walk away from a quarter of a million dollars in gambling prize money and admit defeat. Somehow we don’t think that will be the case. Alternatively (as he has subsequently done), Howard can consult a lawyer and try to get as much of his gambling prize out of the casino as he possibly can. | |
