In sports gambling the term “gambling against the line” refers to gambling on the underdog. When gambling against the odds, the risk is obviously bigger but so is the reward. The way it works is that sports gambling site award you with a bigger return for you investment in case your gamble pans out. The sport gambling site has to give these odds in order to make it profitable for people to be gambling against the line.
Mastering the ability of predicting the upset can be quite lucrative. Let’s take tonight’s game as example. The Colts are the clear favorites to win the game even though the Patriots have had their numbers for the past few years. Gambling against Indianapolis could turn up quite lucrative in case they actually lose. Currently, one sports gambling site ranks the Patriots as +4 underdogs to win the game. So if you intend to gamble on the points spread, you need them to either lose by less than 4 points or beat the Colts in order to collect.
Another option for a straight bet is gambling on the moneyline. Currently, Sportsbook has the Patriots as +170 underdogs, meaning that a $10 wager will earn you $17 in case they actually win. Considering the fact that Payton Manning struggles when playing outdoors (especially in Foxborough), New England has a reasonable chance of winning the game. The emotional return of Teddy Brosky is also expected to provide much needed help for the Patriots defensive line.
