The new sports gambling movie titled “Two for the Money” has grossed $8,703,240 in its first week at the box-office. The movie tells the true story of Brandon Lane (portrayed by Matthew McConaughey), a former star quarterback at college who suffers a terrible injury that prevents him from perusing a professional career playing football. With his football career nonexistent, Lane turns to sports gambling in order to make ends meet.
He quickly finds out that he has an uncanny talent for gambling against the line. Lane talents as far as sports gambling don’t go unnoticed for long, as he is discovered by Walter Abraham (Al Pacino) who owns a big sports consulting firm in Manhattan. Lane becomes Abraham’s protégé, as the young sports gambling phenom recievs tutelage from one of the most prominent men in the sports gambling industry. The movie follows closely the father-son relationship that is formed between Pacino’s character and McConaughey’s.
The tables are turned when one day, Lane losses his magic gambling touch and is no longer able to predict the outcome of the games, causing Abraham’s sports gambling firm to lose millions of dollars. This is by far one of the best sports gambling movies to have been released in recent memory. Given the fact that it’s based on a true story just makes it even more riveting to watch. | |
