- Friday, 28 Oct 2005
As we have been doing for the past weeks, we’ll be offering a comprehensive overview of the betting lines offered by 2 of the major sports gambling sites on the web, Bodog and Sportsbook. One of the marquee match ups in week 8 is the game between the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants. The online bookmakers at Bodog have the hometown Giants as -2 favorites to beat the Redskins. This means that gambling on New York would require that the Giants beat Washington by at least 2 points.
In addition to gambling on the point spread, gamers can also make an over/under wager regarding the game’s total score. Currently, the sports gambling site indicates 42 as the combined score for both teams. Additionally, the sports gambling site offers -115 odds when gambling on “Over”, which translates to a profit of $20 for every $23 you wager. Gambling on “Under” receives odds of -105, meaning that you stand to make $20 for ever $21 you wager. The other sports gambling site Sportsbook, also has the Giants as -2 favorites.
However, the two online bookmakers vary when it comes to gambling on the total, given that Sportsbook features 42.5 instead of 42. What is the difference you ask? The half point indicated that there is no situation for a tie. This means that if New York beats Washington by exactly 2 points, according to Sportsbook they wouldn’t cover the spread. On the other hand, Bodog does render such a situation as a tie or a push, meaning that you don’t end up losing any money as a result of the Giants not covering the spread. It’s important to mention that these odds are subjected to changes by Sunday.
