Snowboarder Danny Kass, a 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympics silver medalist, has defeated fellow sport icons and is now officially a newly appointed Poker king. Kass has won the popular online gambling casino sponsored tournament named the 'Party Poker Big Throwdown Championship' at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The six sportsmen, who usually share common ground elsewhere, met recently for a Texas Hold 'Em series sponsored by the online gambling casino, to determine who the best poker player is among action sport stars.
After six rounds, Snowboarder Kass beat surfer Pat O'Connell, skateboarder Sergie Venture, wakeboarder Josh Sanders, BMXer Dennis McCoy and FMXer Jeff Tilton and ended up winning the Big Throwdown gambling tournament along with the winner-take-all prize of $30,000. Kass first took out O'Connell and continued to eliminate Ventura and McCoy with one hand. Down to three players, wakeboarder Sanders kept the remaining players off balance with some unconventional play but in the end was sent off as well. Tilton called Sanders' all in with just a suited 10-7 and sent him packing.
The final match up was decided when Tilton finally pushed all in with an inside straight draw and Kass called Tilton with just a king high. The turn and river brought no miracles and Kass' king high made him Poker champion. Celebration took place following the win with Kass receiving his $30,000 check from the online gambling casino plus Sanders' Drink on his head, compliments of the number three spot. | |
